Case Study: Natural daylight 3.0 + Manual light adjustment workflow

When automatic lighting doesn't work as expected, add hand lighting, select an automatic lighting template, and adjust manually.

The principle of manual adjustment: make up for what is not enough.

Here comes a case from Natural daylight 3.0:

Test render & analysis

Problem: The whole surrounding is too dark, lack of detail lights, those who rely on the wall shoot the lamp height to have a bit low.

Strategy:

- brighten up the entire space by raising the base lighting

- especially the areas highlighted in the red box

- add a ball to the chandelier

- adjust the type and height of the spotlights on the right side

Step 1: Strengthen the “Skylight”

“Skylight” is can be understood as rectangle light in the window. The size can be close to the window size, and the color is light blue during the day and darker blue at night.

Put two layers of light in the window, skylight outside the window 600-800, skylight inside the window 300-500, light blue color.

After adding up the "skylight", the whole space is brighter.

Step 2: Adjust down lamp spotlights

Add downlights in important areas, such as below the chandelier. Adjust the spot lamp height and distance against the wall. The brightness of downlight and spotlight reference system default value, generally floating between 200-300, spotlight height in 2400 meters or so, the living room can use warm white light during the day.

Regarding some cabinets without lamp belts, you could add a vertical surface light. Set brightness around 150-200, with warm white light.

To increase the brightness of the furniture, add a downlight and adjust the light angle to 30-45 degrees. Set brightness between 100 and 150, with warm white light.

Step 3: Add detailed ambient light

Finally, add some detailed lights, such as chandeliers, wall lamps, and some hidden light strips to increase the effect of a certain atmosphere.

Add up omni light to strengthen and create a spherical light effect. The diameter of the spherical lamp can be close to the size of the chandelier, and the brightness is between 250-300, between the chandelier and the ceiling. The color temperature can be warmer.

Add up some hidden light stripe: The hidden light strip is made with a rectangle light surface, of which the width is about 20-25mm, the brightness is 1500, and the light is slightly warmer.
